Called – Jacob

Genesis 32:27-28

Prevailed

Genesis 32:27-28 So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.”

28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

God has chosen Jacob before he was born and called him and blessed him. God was with Jacob all the time and protected him from all evil and danger. Jacob sought God diligently and received the blessings. He spent all the night in prayer and prevailed. He was blessed by God abundantly.

God asked Jacob before blessing what is your name, and he answered my name is Jacob. But God said from now on you shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed. He surrendered to God and seek His blessings. He prevailed spiritually by refusing to give up until God blesses him. He depended on God and sought Him with perseverance in faith.

Acts 26:14-15 And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

15 So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

Acts 9:15 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

Acts 13:9 Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him.

Lord Jesus Christ has chosen Saul to be His servant and do the work of the Lord. Saul was going against God’s purpose and persecuting the church. But Jesus appeared to Saul and spoke to him and said I have chosen you to be My servant. Saul was chosen vessel of Jesus to bear the name of Jesus before gentiles, kings and the children of Israel.

Jesus blessed Saul and anointed him with the Holy Spirit and gave strength and courage and wisdom to do the work of the Lord. Paul did the work of the Lord and spread the good news of Jesus Christ and many souls were saved and many churches were established and he was called as Paul. He was not called as Saul but Paul. New name given by God. God chosen him and called him and given new name and established him in the Lord. He was called the Apostle of Jesus Christ.

Overcomer

Isaiah62:2 The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, And all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, Which the mouth of the Lord will name.

Revelation 2:17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”’

God’s promise to every believer to restore them and bless them. He will call them with a new name. The mouth of the Lord will name. He will give new identity and honor for His children. He will fill with His glory and give them eternal life.

He who overcomes will be given some of the hidden manna to eat and will be given a white stone and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it. What a great blessing it is for the overcomers.

He who overcome sin and temptation and live a life pleasing to God will be blessed with a new name given by God. He will give them everlasting name that will endure forever. They will be in the presence of God always.

Come to Lord Jesus Christ and surrender your life to Jesus Christ. He will come into your life and bless you with eternal salvation. He will fill your life with great joy and peace. He will deliver you from all sin and destruction and give eternal life. He will lead you in green pastures and still waters. He is God who lives forever and takes care of His children till the end and lead them into eternal glory.

PRAYER:
Loving heavenly Father, I come before You just as I am. Please forgive me for all my sins and cleanse me with the precious blood of Jesus. Redeem my life from destruction and crown me with Your mercy. Fill my heart with Your love and truth. Thank you Lord for forgiving me and accepting me and giving me eternal life. Fill me with the power of resurrection. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
