Jesus Christ Said Don’t

Do Not

Genesis 2:16-17

Eat

Genesis 2:16-17 16 The LORD God commanded the human, “Eat your fill from all of the garden’s trees.

17 but don’t eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, because on the day you eat from it, you will die!”

Lord Jesus Christ said to Adam and Eve in the garden do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You can eat the fruits of all trees but not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He said to them if you eat from it, you will die. Jesus Christ gave a command to Adam and Eve to obey and surrender to Him.

But they did not obey the word of God and disobeyed and did eat the fruit of the tree of good and evil and caused sin to enter into humanity. Entire earth was cursed by God because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve. One disobedience brought great damage to entire humanity and death to all.

Adam and Eve were driven out of the presence of God and from the garden of Eden. They faced hardship in their life. What a great tragedy it is to disobey and receive the curse of God. It is always better to obey to His word and surrender to Him always and receive blessings and favor.

Do not – Judge

Matthews 7:1 “Judge not, that you be not judged.

Lord Jesus Christ said do not judge others. But judge yourself and be right with God. Do not put stumbling block to others. But forgive all and you will be forgiven. God is Judge and He will judge all in the time of Judgement. He is righteous God and judge all righteously. You are accountable of your own actions and deeds and focus on your righteous life and holy life.

Be holy before God and do not judge others. The word of God condemns the judgmental attitude. You can correct your fellow believer with humility and love but not with judgmental attitude like pharisee. Offer a compassionate correction rather than condemnation. Help other believers to restore when they commit mistake.

Do Not – make Idols

Exodus 20:4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Lord Jesus Christ said do not make idols for yourself. Do not make any carved image or any likeness that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, that is in the water under the earth. You should not make any idol or image and it is abomination to God. You will receive the wrath of God. God will not be with you and will leave you.

You should not have any idols in your heart. You should give first place to God in all your life. Whatever thing you give first place in your life is idol in you. God does not like it. You must love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Give first priority to true living God in your life.

Do not – Worship Idols

Exodus 20:5-6 5 You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Lord Jesus Christ said do not worship the idols or any other gods. You must worship the Lord your God who created the heaven and earth. Jesus Christ is true living God and true savior. He is jealous God and punish all those who worship the idols and other gods.

You should not bow down to them and worship them. You should not practice any heathen practices and commit sin. God is watching over you always. Do not align with all heathen practices and do not follow their customs.

He is willing to protect and give security for His believers always. Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and be courageous and walk in faith. Wherever you are Jesus Christ is looking after you and keep you safe and guide you in right path. He will keep you away from all evil.

He will make them alive spiritually by His abundant grace. He will make them sit with Him in heaven. What a great joy it is to receive eternal life through Jesus Christ. He is willing to give you eternal life and joy.

Come to Lord Jesus Christ and submit your life to Him. He will come to you and give eternal salvation. He will forgive you if you confess all yours sin before Him. He is willing to forgive you and give rest. He is loving God and save you from all eternal destruction and hell. Do not disobey God’s commandment. Follow the commandments of God and walk holy life. You will receive eternal life and joy and inherit the kingdom of God.

Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

Pray to Jesus Christ

PRAYER:
Loving heavenly Father, I come before You just as I am. Please forgive me for all my sins and cleanse me with the precious blood of Jesus. Redeem my life from destruction and crown me with Your mercy. Fill my heart with Your love and truth. Thank you Lord for forgiving me and accepting me and giving me eternal life. Fill me with the power of resurrection. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

Something I have noticed in Scripture is that God’s “don’ts” are often surrounded by a much larger number of “dos.”

In Eden, Adam and Eve were free to enjoy an entire garden. Only one tree was forbidden. Yet human nature has a way of fixing its attention on the one thing withheld rather than the countless blessings already given.

I sometimes think we still struggle with that same tendency. We can begin to see God’s commandments as restrictions when they are actually protections. A parent tells a child, “Don’t touch the hot stove,” not to diminish the child’s freedom, but to preserve it.

The enemy’s first deception was convincing Eve that God’s boundary was evidence that He was withholding something good. In reality, it was evidence that He cared enough to warn her.

The longer I walk with the Lord, the more I see that obedience is not merely about following rules. It is about trusting the heart of the One who gave them. Behind every command is a God who sees farther than we do and loves us more than we realize.

  2. So many deceitful idols today (e.g., AI and social media). Thanks for pointing us back to the truth.
