Resurrection Power Open the Understanding

OPEN THE UNDERSTANDING

Luke 24:44-45

44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” 45And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Jesus after resurrection from dead appeared to His disciples and spoke with them explained about the scriptures written about His sufferings and death and burial and resurrection on third day. These things disciples could not comprehend. So Jesus appeared to them and explained the scriptures written about Him.  Jesus is said to have opened the minds of disciples to comprehend the scriptures. This refers to their understanding of Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection, as prophesied in the scriptures. 

Unless God makes our understanding open we cannot comprehend the scriptures. We need the understanding of scriptures and strengthen spiritually.

The phrase “opened their understanding” signifies that Jesus helped the disciples’ ability to grasp the deeper meaning of the scriptures, particularly those that pertained to his own role as the Messiah.

The opening of their understanding is not just an intellectual awakening, but also a spiritual one, allowing them to experience the power of the scriptures. Supernatural enlightenment, allowing them to comprehend the scriptures.

Jesus is gracious, however. He opens their minds, as the Holy Spirit does to us.

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

The Holy Spirit enables a deeper, more spiritual understanding of scripture, moving beyond a surface-level reading.

John 14:26 ²⁶ But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

The Holy Spirit is believed to be essential for understanding scripture. Ask God to understand the scriptures and through Holy Spirit you will know the truth.

John 16:24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Ask God to give you wisdom and to understand the scriptures. Your Joy will be full. When you understand the scriptures then you will be a true witness for Christ Jesus.

PRAYER:
Loving heavenly Father, I come before You just as I am. Please forgive me for all my sins and cleanse me with the precious blood of Jesus. Redeem my life from destruction and crown me with Your mercy. Fill my heart with Your love and truth. Let my life be a testimony of Your grace. Thank You for giving me a new, Christ-filled life. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
