He Tests
Psalms 11:4-5
He Test Abraham
Genesis 22:1-2, 9-10 1 now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
11 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”
12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
Hebrews 11:17-18 17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,”
God tested Abraham and He said Abraham take your only son whom you love and offer him as burnt offering. God tested Abraham whether he will obey His command and fear God. It is not to give his son as burnt offering but to test Abraham He said. Abraham obeyed the Lord’s command and came to the place where Lord showed Him and put his son on the altar to sacrifice.
But Lord appeared and spoke to Abraham, do not lay your hand on the lad. I know that you fear God. You obeyed my command. You did not withhold your beloved son from offering him to me. So God saw the obedience of Abraham and fear of God in him and blessed Abraham abundantly. He blessed Abraham and Isaac and multiplied their descendants. Abraham passed the test of God and gained God’s favor.
He Test Joseph
Psalms 105:17-21 17 He sent a man before them— Joseph—who was sold as a slave.
18 They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons.
19 Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him.
20 The king sent and released him, the ruler of the people let him go free.
21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possessions,
God chose Joseph for a special purpose. He spoke to Joseph through dreams that he will be in higher position. But that did not come true until he was tested and gone through all trials and temptation. God was with him in all his troubles and strengthened.
But he has to wait for a period. This period starts from the day he was sold as a slave. It ends when he was made ruler in Egypt. God was testing Joseph and watching his obedience and fear of God. It is a divine testing and promise fulfillment in the life of Joseph. Divine testing to develop his character. The hardship served to purify Joseph’s character and God promises fulfillment.
He Test Hearts
Proverbs 17:3 3 You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress..
Lord Jesus Christ tests the heart and sees what is in the heart. He sees your thoughts and intentions in your heart. He tests your heart and sees your faith towards Him. These trials reveal your real nature and help in spiritual growth. He allows hardships and trials like furnace to test our faith and obedience and test our heart. Man looks at the heart but God looks at the heart.
Romans 5:3-4 3 and not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
It is through trials and tribulations we develop our divine character. It produces perseverance and perseverance good character and Character hope. Our hope is in Jesus Christ who is author and finisher of our faith. When you are tested by trials and tribulations it builds character and strengthening our hope in Lord Jesus Christ. It increases our confidence in God’s love and salvation through Holy Spirit
